Interview: TONIC’s Emerson Hart on family, writing and the band’s journey so far

The thought of starting a conversation about music with Emerson Hart was very intimidating at first – after all, he wrote some of my favorite songs over the last two decades – but that feeling quickly transformed into comfort when he reached out his hand and introduced himself just before our interview last Friday afternoon at Woodinville’s Chateau Ste Michelle.

Interview: Echosmith sends out a message of love in Auburn

California band Echosmith had three very clear messages to share at their Green River College show last Friday night: “Number one: you are not alone,” Lead vocalist Sydney Sierota shared with the attentive student audience, “number two: All it takes is accepting yourself for who you are and who you aren’t, I promise. And finally,” she continued, “I need you guys to know, so badly: that you are so, so loved. Especially by this band on this very stage.”

EXCLUSIVE: An interview with Scars on 45 in Seattle!

Monday, December 15th, 2014

Three years ago, I did an interview with three very charismatic lads from the band Scars on 45 at the Paramount Theater in Seattle.  At the time, they had just released their self-titled debut album with Atlantic Records and they were having a great time touring the United States with The Fray.  And I – well, I […]

The Apache Relay on Their Latest Album: “We Went To the Ends of the Earth with this Record” + interview +

I fell for The Apache Relay as soon as I heard their song “Forest For The Trees.” That song was just the first domino, of course and as I continued to listen to the rest of the songs on their self-titled album I fell more and more in music love with their beautiful vocal harmonies and instrumentation. These guys have an incredible ability to take you somewhere else when you listen to them. For me, their songs are very cozy and they bring me to a bench facing my favorite treescaped park.

Jason Mraz and Raining Jane made a stop in Spokane last week and what a beautiful show it was! The show was put together in partnership with The Melodic Caring Project, which streams live music to kids who are in the hospital and unable to see it. It’s an incredible project that you can find out more about here! Jason was kind enough to dedicate some of his song performances to the kids.

Review: Jason Mraz with Raining Jane at Benaroya Hall

Ladies and gentlemen I am honored to share with you the 8th natural wonder of the world – Jason Mraz. I heard about Jason when I was in high school. After I heard his song, “Undercover Lover,” I knew I needed to go out and find everything I could about this guy.

Review: Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr at Seattle’s Tractor Tavern

Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr (comprised of Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein) know how to bring energy into every room they play in. After seeing them play at Neumos earlier in the year, I was looking forward to seeing them bring that energy into the sold out Tractor Tavern on Friday night. And oh, they brought it!

The line for entry into Seattle’s Neptune Theater spanned all the way around the corner and down the side of the building on Saturday night, as Christina Perri fans arrived early for her sold out show.

Seattle was the second-to-last stop on Christina’s tour, aptly named the Head or Heart Tour, in support of her latest record by the same name. Saturday’s performance was the first of two over the weekend.

Photos: Thompson Square visits Auburn Performing Arts Center!

Thompson Square stopped by the Auburn Performing Arts Center on May 17th to perform for the 31s Annual Auburn Rotary Scholarship show. The duo, comprised of husband and wife Keifer and Shawna Thompson, played to a packed house. It was easily one of the best shows that I’ve seen all year. The pair have an amazing chemistry on stage. Their passion and energy shined through every song while their beautiful voices left me smiling throughout the whole show.

Show Preview: THOMPSON SQUARE is Coming Your Way! +interview

One of my favorite things about Thompson Square – comprised of husband and wife Keifer and Shawna Thompson – is how they take a positive and fun approach to music and life. Not to mention that they write catchy country songs that make every day sunny and bright!
